Parcel lockers take the front desk out of parcel delivery. Couriers drop off at the touchscreen whenever they arrive, recipients collect whenever they like, and staff stop logging, storing and handing out boxes. KioskForce designs the locker hardware and the software in-house and builds each bank to the building’s parcel profile. We are taking reservations for the first production run of the courier walk-up parcel locker now.
Quick answer
- What it is: a bank of electronically locked cells for parcels. A courier drops off at the touchscreen and the recipient collects with a one-time QR code or PIN, 24/7.
- Which couriers: any of them. The touchscreen needs no carrier integration. The driver picks the recipient from the building directory and the locker assigns a cell.
- What the building gets: a digital proof of delivery for every parcel, automatic reminders, a staff portal and an audit trail of every door opening.
- Price: as a rough guide, a small bank of about 10 cells with a courier touchscreen typically comes in at a few thousand US dollars, roughly US$2,000–5,000. A 50–100-cell building system is roughly US$8,000–20,000. Software is a flat monthly fee of around US$100 per location, with no per-parcel or resident fees. Freight, duties and installation are extra, and your quote fixes the price. Get a quote.
- Who it is for: apartment and multifamily buildings, student housing, offices and campuses, and retailers who want after-hours collection.
- Lead time: about 8–12 weeks for a custom build. First-run slots can be reserved now.
How a delivery runs
| Step | Courier | Locker and software | Recipient | Building staff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Drop-off | Taps Deliver, scans the label or types the recipient’s name or unit, picks a cell size | Matches the recipient in the building directory and opens a free cell of that size | — | Nothing to do |
| 2. Confirm | Puts the parcel in and closes the door | Records the drop-off with time, cell and courier, as a digital proof of delivery | Gets a text or email with a one-time QR code or PIN | Sees the parcel waiting in the portal |
| 3. Remind | — | Re-sends the code after the period you set | Gets a reminder | Gets an alert when a parcel passes your collection limit |
| 4. Collect | — | Opens that one door for the code and logs the collection | Scans the QR code or types the PIN, any hour | Nothing to do |
| 5. Exceptions | Parcel too big for any free cell: the screen says so and the courier leaves it at the desk or parcel room | Logs the overflow | Gets a message saying where to collect | Clears expired parcels with a staff code, which is logged |
The same reserve, drop-off and pickup sequence already runs on our food and parcel delivery lockers, where an integrated delivery platform reserves the cell in advance. The parcel locker adds the walk-up courier screen, the building’s resident directory and the staff portal, so couriers without any integration can use it too.
Cell types
| Cell | Built for | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Small and medium parcels, roughly shoebox to carry-on size | Most e-commerce deliveries; the bulk of any bank |
| Large | Larger cartons | Multi-item orders, small appliances |
| Oversize | Floor-to-shoulder cells | Bulky boxes, sports gear, monitors |
| Chilled | Cells held at a set chilled temperature, built to order | Grocery and meal-kit deliveries that cannot wait at room temperature |
| Hanging | Full-height cell with a rail | Dry cleaning and garments, quoted per project |
Because every bank is built to order, the mix is yours to choose. Size it from your parcels, not your unit count. The apartment parcel locker sizing guide explains the arithmetic: parcels per day times the average wait before collection, plus peak-day headroom.

The software
- Resident directory: names and units, imported from a spreadsheet or kept in sync with your property or building system over the API.
- Notifications: texts and emails carrying the building’s name for “parcel delivered”, reminders and “parcel collected”.
- Staff portal: every parcel waiting, how long it has waited, who delivered it and which cell it is in. Staff codes for clearing and returns, each one logged.
- Proof of delivery: a time-stamped record of each drop-off and collection, which settles “my parcel never arrived” disputes in seconds.
- Multi-site: one account for every building you manage.
- API and webhooks: delivery and collection events for your resident app or property system, on the same documented platform as our delivery lockers.
The software fee is flat per location. It does not grow with parcel volume, and there is nothing to charge residents to cover it.
Where this is the wrong answer
- Small buildings with someone on site. A building of a few dozen units with a manager in the office may do fine with a locked parcel room and a sign-in log.
- Mostly large items. If a big share of deliveries is furniture or bulk boxes, plan a parcel room first and add lockers for everyday parcels.
- Carriers that will not use it. Settle carrier access before you buy. A locker nobody delivers into is an expensive cupboard.
- No power or network at the site. Our lockers need mains power and a mobile or wired connection. Battery keypad lockers exist for sites without power, but they cannot run a courier screen, send notifications or log events in real time.
- You want someone else to run it. We sell the lockers and the software to the building. We do not operate locker networks or deliver parcels.
What to send us
- Your building: apartments or multifamily, student housing, office or campus, retail, other.
- Size: units or occupants, and about how many parcels arrive on a normal day and on your busiest day.
- Cell mix, or ask us to propose one from your parcel counts.
- Site: indoor or outdoor, power, network, and where couriers enter.
- Timeline.
The fastest route is the price enquiry form, which sends us the brief in one step. We sell direct and, in some regions, through local distributors. On-site installation is optional and, in some regions, provided through a local distributor. Support is by email, and where a local distributor supplied the lockers, it handles warranty and service.

Frequently asked questions
How do parcel lockers work?
The courier taps Deliver on the locker touchscreen, scans or types the recipient’s name or unit, picks a cell size, puts the parcel in and closes the door. The locker records the drop-off and sends the recipient a text or email with a one-time QR code or PIN. The recipient scans or types the code at the locker, that one door opens, and the collection is logged. If a parcel waits too long, the software sends reminders and alerts building staff.
How much does a package locker system cost?
As a rough guide, a small bank of about 10 cells with a courier touchscreen typically comes in at a few thousand US dollars, roughly US$2,000 to 5,000. A 50 to 100-cell building system is roughly US$8,000 to 20,000. Software is a flat monthly fee of around US$100 per location, with no per-parcel or resident fees. Freight, duties and installation are extra, and your quote fixes the price. Send a price enquiry with your building and parcel numbers for a firm quote.
Can any courier deliver into the lockers?
Any courier can use the touchscreen: it needs no integration with the carrier’s systems. The driver picks the recipient from the building directory and the locker assigns a cell. Whether a given carrier’s drivers will use a building’s locker is still that carrier’s local delivery practice, so confirm with your main carriers before you size the bank. In the US, mail delivered by the Postal Service goes to USPS-approved mail receptacles, and a parcel locker sits next to them rather than replacing them.
What is the difference between a smart parcel locker and a package room?
A package room is a locked room that staff or couriers fill and residents search. A smart parcel locker gives every parcel its own locked cell, tells the recipient which parcel is theirs, and records who opened which door and when. A package room holds more large items for less money. A locker removes the searching, the disputes and the staff time spent logging and handing out parcels. Many buildings run both: lockers for everyday parcels, a room or shelf for furniture boxes.
Are parcel lockers secure?
Each cell is a steel compartment with its own electronic lock that opens only for the drop-off session or for the recipient’s one-time code. Every event is logged with a time stamp, and staff can see in the portal which parcels are waiting and for how long. Codes expire after use. Building staff have their own access codes, and their door openings are logged too. Place the bank inside the secured part of the building or under cover where it can be seen.
How long does it take to get parcel lockers?
Custom builds take about 8 to 12 weeks from an approved drawing to dispatch, plus shipping. We are taking reservations for the first production run of the courier walk-up parcel locker now. A reservation holds a slot in that run and the published price band while the cell mix, branding and building directory setup are finalised with you.
Do residents or tenants pay to use the lockers?
Not to us. KioskForce charges the building owner or manager a flat software fee per location and nothing per parcel, so the software cost does not rise with delivery volume and there is no resident fee to collect. If a property chooses to charge residents an amenity fee, that is the property’s decision and stays with the property.
Can parcel lockers go outdoors?
Yes, as an outdoor-rated build, specified when the cabinet is ordered. It adds about 20% to the cells. An outdoor bank still needs shelter for the touchscreen from direct sun and rain, mains power, a mobile or wired network connection and lighting. Indoor lobby, mailroom and loading-dock positions are the usual first choice.
