How Much Do Laundry Lockers Cost? (2026 Price Guide)

A powered, card-on-file laundry locker typically costs about US$350–650 per door for the hardware, plus software, freight, duties and installation. On our indicative bands a wash-dry-fold door is US$500–600, a hanging door US$550–650 and an express door US$350–450. Optional per-door weight sensing adds US$90–150 per sensed door, a touchscreen payment kiosk adds US$1,800–2,400 per bank, and an outdoor cabinet adds about 20%. All of these are before freight, duties and taxes. Software is where vendors differ most. Some charge a flat monthly fee, some take a share of card volume, and some battery-keypad lockers need no locker software at all. A small three-door test bank comes to roughly US$1,500–2,300 in hardware on our bands. A 24-door outdoor bank with a kiosk comes to roughly US$17,000–22,000.

A laundry locker setup costs what the doors cost, plus the parts that make them work as a business: a controller or kiosk, optional weight sensing, software, freight, duties and installation. On our indicative bands a powered door runs US$350–650 depending on its type. A small test bank is a low four-figure purchase, and a 24-door public bank is a mid five-figure one. This guide breaks down each line, compares what other vendors publish, and works through three example setups.

Quick answer

  • Per door (powered, card-on-file): US$500–600 wash-dry-fold, US$550–650 hanging, US$350–450 express on our indicative bands, before freight, duties and taxes.
  • Add-ons: weight sensing +US$90–150 per sensed door; touchscreen payment kiosk US$1,800–2,400 per bank; outdoor cabinet about +20%. Branding is quoted per project.
  • Software: expect one of three models. A flat monthly fee (ours is US$99 per location per month, no revenue share), a share of card volume, or no locker software for offline keypad lockers.
  • Not in the door price: freight, import duties, sales tax, installation and, with some vendors, a setup fee.
  • Examples (hardware, indicative): 3 doors about US$1,770–2,250; 9 doors about US$6,990–8,850; 24 doors outdoor about US$17,160–21,600.

What drives the price of a laundry locker

Four decisions set most of the price:

  1. Powered or battery-only. A powered locker has a controller, mains power and a mobile or Wi-Fi connection. It can take a saved card, text a pickup code, weigh a bag and log every door opening in real time. A battery keypad locker needs no power or network and costs less per door, but it does none of those things. The customer pays in a separate app, and nobody knows a bag has arrived until someone checks.
  2. Door mix. Hanging doors for dry cleaning cost more than wash-dry-fold doors, and small express doors cost less. Most banks mix the three.
  3. Options that must be chosen at order. Weight sensors, outdoor sealing, through-wall builds and branded fronts are all built in at the factory. Adding them later is expensive or impossible. Our weight sensors in particular cannot be retrofitted.
  4. Software model. Over five years, the software fee can cost as much as the hardware, so compare it as carefully as the door price.

Hardware: per-door price bands by door type

These are KioskForce’s indicative bands, in US dollars, before freight, import duties and taxes. Your quote fixes the price for your configuration.

Item Indicative price What it covers
Wash-dry-fold door US$500–600 One full laundry bag (about 600 mm / 24 in clear height). Controller and keypad/QR access included per bank
Hanging / long door US$550–650 Full-height door with a hanging rail, for dry cleaning
Express door US$350–450 Small door for shirts and single items
Per-door weight sensing +US$90–150 per sensed door Factory-fitted, chosen per door at order
Touchscreen payment kiosk US$1,800–2,400 per bank Optional; card reader on the locker for walk-up customers
Outdoor-rated cabinet about +20% Weather sealing for unsheltered sites
Volume about −10% from 25 doors, −20% from 50 Across one order
Software US$99 per location per month Unlimited orders, no revenue share, no per-order fee

The controller is part of the bank price, so the first door does not carry a separate “control tower” charge. That matters most for small banks. It is also why a vendor’s per-door figure can look very different depending on how the controller is priced.

The controller, the kiosk and how customers pay

Every powered bank needs a controller that locks and unlocks the doors and talks to the cloud. On our lockers it comes with the bank, together with keypad and QR access. Customers can do the whole drop-off from their phones. They scan the code, enter a phone number or email and save a card.

The touchscreen payment kiosk is the optional extra. It earns its US$1,800–2,400 at public sites where many first-time customers walk up and will not install anything. Inside your own laundromat, where staff can explain the process, phone-only access usually does the job. Whichever you choose, card payments settle into your own payment account. KioskForce never holds the customer’s money.

Weight sensing: the option to decide on day one

A sensed door weighs the bag as it closes. The customer sees an estimated weight and price range before walking away, under-minimum bags are flagged on the spot, and you see tomorrow’s load in the portal tonight. At US$90–150 per sensed door it is a modest share of a bank’s cost, but it is the one option you cannot add later, because the sensors are fitted at the factory.

A common approach is to sense the wash-dry-fold doors, where the price depends on weight, and leave hanging and express doors unsensed, because dry cleaning is usually priced per item. The locker reading is an estimate. In the US, a business that sells a service by weight generally needs an NTEP-approved, “legal for trade” scale that meets NIST Handbook 44. Missouri’s weights and measures program, for example, also requires the scale to be inspected and placed in service before commercial use. So the final bill should come from your certified scale. The weigh-at-drop-off guide covers how the two readings work together.

Software: three pricing models in the market

Model How it is charged Who publishes it (examples) Cost behaviour
Flat monthly fee A fixed fee per location (or per user) per month KioskForce (US$99 per location per month); DropLocker and High Mark describe an ongoing monthly software fee without publishing the figure Same cost at 20 orders or 2,000; falls per order as volume grows
Share of card volume A percentage deducted from card payments before they settle to you At least one battery-keypad locker vendor (rate not published) Nothing when quiet; grows with every order
No locker software Battery keypad lockers run offline; payment happens in separate software Battery keypad lockers with no power, Wi-Fi or hub No locker fee, but no real-time drop-off events, weighing or card charge at the door

The arithmetic on flat versus percentage is simple. A US$99 monthly fee equals 2% of US$4,950 in monthly card volume, or 1% of US$9,900. If your locker orders will pass those levels, a flat fee costs less. Below them, a small percentage can cost less. Ask any percentage-based vendor for the actual rate in writing and model it against your expected volume.

Setup fees, freight, duties and installation

These are the lines most often left out of a headline per-door price:

  • Setup or onboarding fees. Some vendors charge one. DropLocker says its customers “pay a setup fee, they buy the lockers, and then there is an ongoing monthly fee”. Others sell an assisted setup and marketing pack. Ask every vendor, including us, for a full list of one-off charges.
  • Freight and crating. At least one battery-locker vendor includes standard ocean freight to the contiguous US in its tower price but charges separately for crating. Our bands exclude freight, which is quoted to your address. Final-mile delivery to a site without a loading dock can add a liftgate or inside-delivery charge.
  • Import duties and taxes. US duty depends on the product’s Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, its composition and its country of origin. CBP makes the final determination. Ask for a landed-cost quote or talk to a customs broker rather than adding a guessed percentage. Add state sales or use tax where it applies.
  • Installation. A powered bank needs a mains outlet, usually anchoring to a wall or floor, and clearance for the doors to open. High Mark’s FAQ notes its lockers need 110V and that a distributor “might help with the installation”. From us, installation is optional and, in some regions, provided through a local distributor. Budget for a new outlet if there is none within reach.
  • Lead time. Our custom builds take about 8–12 weeks from approved drawing to dispatch, plus shipping. That matters if you are timing a lease start or a building launch.

Published competitor pricing compared

Prices as published on each vendor’s site, accessed 3 October 2026. KioskForce is not affiliated with these companies. Products differ (powered versus battery keypad, controller included or not), so compare like for like.

Vendor What is priced Published price Software model
Battery keypad tower vendors Offline steel towers holding one to three compartments by door type Published per-tower prices from about US$300 to US$575 by volume, which works out to roughly US$100–210 per wash-dry-fold compartment Typically no locker software fee; payment runs in separate software, sometimes for a share of card volume
Accessa (accessa.io) Powered towers with app access 4-door control tower without kiosk US$4,999; 4-door or 6-door add-on tower US$3,199; financing from US$166.97/mo (36 months, 1.99% APR) on the control tower Not published on the laundry page
Laundry Lockers by High Mark (laundry-lockers.com) Powered lockers (110V) Quote only (“Get a quote”) Monthly subscription fee; amount not published
DropLocker (droplocker.com) Lockers plus operations software Quote only Setup fee plus ongoing monthly software fee; amounts not published
KioskForce Powered, built to your door mix, controller included per bank US$350–650 per door by type (indicative); kiosk, weighing and outdoor as options above US$99 per location per month, no revenue share

On Accessa’s published prices, a 4-door control tower works out at about US$1,250 per door, and adding a 6-door add-on brings a 10-door bank to US$8,198, or about US$820 per door. Battery keypad towers are the cheapest per compartment, and the trade-off is in the product rather than the price: there is no power, no network, no weighing and no card charge at the door.

Worked examples: 3, 9 and 24 doors

These examples use our indicative bands only. They are illustrative, before freight, duties, taxes and installation, and are not a quote.

3-door test bank 9-door laundromat bank 24-door outdoor public bank
Door mix 3 wash-dry-fold 6 wash-dry-fold, 3 hanging 16 wash-dry-fold, 4 hanging, 4 express
Doors US$1,500–1,800 US$4,650–5,550 US$11,600–14,000
Outdoor cabinet (about +20% on doors) — — US$2,320–2,800
Weight sensing 3 doors: US$270–450 6 doors: US$540–900 16 doors: US$1,440–2,400
Touchscreen kiosk None (phone access) US$1,800–2,400 US$1,800–2,400
Indicative hardware total US$1,770–2,250 US$6,990–8,850 US$17,160–21,600
Software, first year US$1,188 US$1,188 US$1,188

Notes on the examples:

  • The 3-door bank is the cheapest real test: one tower inside your own store, phone access only, every door sensed. It tells you whether there is demand at hours your counter is closed before you put lockers anywhere else.
  • The 9-door bank suits a laundromat that also takes dry cleaning. The kiosk is there for walk-up customers. Drop it and the hardware falls to about US$5,200–6,500.
  • The 24-door bank sits one door below our 25-door volume break of about −10%. Adding a 25th door could lower the total order price, so ask for both figures when you get a quote.

Software is one fee per location, so the same US$99 a month covers 3 doors or 24. That is why the software share of total cost falls quickly as a bank grows. To see what each bank needs to earn, put your price per pound and expected orders into the ROI calculator. For per-pound pricing itself, see how to price wash and fold.

What to ask a laundry locker vendor

  1. Is the price per door or per tower, and is the controller included? This alone can double or halve an apparent per-door price.
  2. Is it powered or battery-only? If battery-only, how do customers pay, and how do you know a bag has arrived?
  3. What does the software cost at my volume? Get flat fees and percentage rates in writing, including per-order, SMS and payment-processing fees.
  4. Where does the customer’s money settle? Into your own account, or the vendor’s first?
  5. Which options must be chosen at order? Weight sensing, outdoor sealing, through-wall and branding.
  6. What is the landed cost? Freight, crating, liftgate, duties and taxes to your address.
  7. What are the one-off fees? Setup, onboarding, marketing packs.
  8. Lead time, warranty and who services it locally?

Where a laundry locker is the wrong purchase

  • You take only a handful of drop-offs a week. The hardware and any software fee need steady volume to pay back. A shelf behind the counter costs nothing.
  • You have no way to collect. A bank away from your store needs at least a daily driver run. Start with a tower in your own laundromat.
  • There is no power at the site. Our lockers need mains power and a mobile or Wi-Fi signal. A battery keypad locker is the realistic choice there, with the trade-offs described above.
  • You need lockers in your hands next month. Custom builds take about 8–12 weeks plus shipping, and we are taking reservations for the first laundry production run now.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a laundry locker cost per door?

For a powered locker with a controller, card-on-file payments and real-time notifications, expect roughly US$350 to 650 per door depending on the door type. KioskForce’s indicative bands are US$500 to 600 for a wash-dry-fold door, US$550 to 650 for a hanging door and US$350 to 450 for an express door, before freight, duties and taxes. Battery keypad lockers with no power or network connection are sold for less per door, but they cannot weigh a bag, charge a card at the door or report a drop-off as it happens.

What does laundry locker software cost?

There are three models in the market. A flat monthly fee per location or per user, a share of card volume deducted before payouts reach the operator, or no locker software at all for offline keypad lockers. KioskForce charges US$99 per location per month with unlimited orders, no revenue share and no per-order fee. A flat fee costs the same whatever the volume, while a percentage share grows with every order the locker brings in.

Is weight sensing worth the extra cost?

It adds about US$90 to 150 per sensed door on our bands. It lets the customer see an estimated weight and price range at drop-off, flags under-minimum bags immediately and shows tomorrow’s load before the driver leaves. Sensors must be chosen per door at order because they are factory-fitted and cannot be retrofitted. Many operators sense only the wash-dry-fold doors. The locker reading is an estimate, so bill by weight from a scale certified for trade use.

Do I need a touchscreen kiosk on a laundry locker?

No. Customers can drop off and pay from their phones by scanning a QR code, so the kiosk is optional. A touchscreen payment kiosk with a card reader, at about US$1,800 to 2,400 per bank on our bands, helps walk-up customers who will not download anything or type a card number into a phone, and makes the bank easier to understand at first sight. It is most useful at a busy public site and least useful inside your own store.

Are freight and import duties included in laundry locker prices?

It depends on the vendor. KioskForce’s bands are before freight, duties and taxes, which are quoted for your delivery address. At least one US vendor includes standard ocean freight to the contiguous US in its per-tower price but charges separately for crating. US import duty depends on the product’s tariff classification and country of origin, and US Customs and Border Protection makes the final determination, so get a landed-cost quote rather than adding a guessed percentage.

Can I finance laundry lockers?

Some vendors publish financing. Accessa, for example, lists 36-month payment options alongside its laundry tower prices. Laundry lockers from KioskForce are sold outright. Operators who want monthly payments typically arrange equipment finance through their bank or an equipment lender against the quote. Compare the total repaid, not only the monthly figure, and add the software fee to the monthly cost.

How many doors does a laundry locker setup need?

Size the bank to the orders that will sit in it at once, not to daily orders. Each order occupies a door twice, once dirty and once clean, and the driver run frees doors daily. A store testing lockers can start with three to six doors. A bank in a large apartment building or a busy public site may need 20 or more, with a mix of wash-dry-fold and hanging doors. Use the ROI calculator with your expected orders to check what a given bank size earns.
